La Photo du moment:

Fear and Loathing in La Reunion…
When you leave for a surftrip, the tendency is to repulse all limit…

when the temperatures in Paris reached records of -2 to -3 degrees, landing to St. Dennis was, for a few minutes, oppressing, then unpleasant, when, 4h after my arrived, at 12, I was steel walking under an unbearable sun, with all my equipement… to reach the camp of Three Basins (via St. Pierre!?) here sat already all the Brittany team…
coast by some Landais and Guadeloupeans…
I had, in spite of all my efforts to remain fixed on this magnificent volcanic landscape, been forced to note that, it was flat… So, it's the perfect moment to rent a "bagnole" as they call cars here… this Twingo was making stressful murmurs like an Airbus over 40 Km/hs, with a total impossibility of braking… it's also the opportunity to spend some time in the lagoon until sunset!

at dawns, our team of the day is composed by Yves Marie LeFourn, Erwan Genre, Albin Giffard, Myself and by the surfer Aurélien Jacob who permitted to fill with his board the few cm3 remaining empty of the cockpit of the Twingo… Direction the East, St. Benoît, the few swell should be better oriented for this coast, that should work!

The shortest path being the straight line, we decide to pass through the mountains: follows a crossing to the peril of our life (indeed!!) of collars and pins, very close to the circuses, the all in a frozen and impenetrable fog… but, on the other side, the weather is fine again, and the landscape magnificent, more wilder than his counterpart of the west…

A small session waits for us on the spot of "Le Virage", the few locals in water reassures (a little) the riders about the non presence of shark in this rivermouth… whereas of others, on the beach, counts me their narrations of fishing, aborted because of "big hole as my 4*4" obecause of sharks in the nets… the paranoiac has already begin … however, the local are very nice, apparently, to see some tourists on their spot poster them a large smilin…
Back to the camp, we are the only one to had catch waves today!? Certain hallucinates that we went in water in a rivermouth on East cost… Already paranoiac ?? Humf, a pity for you, we go back in tomorrow morning! Just the time to Aurélien to let us taste the delights of the islans…

This time we go by the South, so we can check spots: the south-East coast can't be surf, the streams of recent lava throwing themselves directly in the sea… a very pleasant surfing day again, surrounded by locals more and more friendly! Except for the Mamaz, who falls awfully sick…

The following day, still no wave in St Pierre, Maz agrees to himself one day of rest, the surfer-shaper Gael Blouet will replace him for a third journey on the East cost, the way of the North is in fact the shortest… we arrived early in the morning and it's only when Olivier Caucanas, Adrien Rapp and Xavier Fourcade Suivit of the Bodyboarder Amaury Lavergne comes that our Bretons throws themself to water (this morning was with a lot of : "HERE! a SHARK!!!")
After this long day, it's time to taste the local feast, and they foresees good waves for tomorrow on West coast, finally!

next days linked together quickly, the Twingo roared very early in the morning, to escape the unimaginable traffic jam and tempted to find a short sessions before onshore wind rise…
The spot of La Tortue give us some good waves, with the locals Amorie Lavergnes and Laury Grenier :

We found some good waves at Grande Anse accompanied by the guadeloupean Bodyboarder Benjamin Cadoret:

nevertheless the riders have done crazy things for the competition, the ¼ and 1/2 finale were a good spectacle:

The spot of Trois Bassins, in front of our camp was very pleasant for a few small sessions at the end of day:

The shorebreak of étant salé was difficult to surf in spite of is outside "pipline" aspect:

And finally, the last day, for the finales, it was big at St Pierres!!

Puiff, this week was really too short…
